âBut though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him. This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: âLORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED? [Isaiah 53:1]â For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, âHE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEMâ [Isaiah 6:10]. These things Isaiah said because he saw His glory, and he spoke of Him. Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of Godâ (NASU).
Divinity of Yeshua Study
ââNow My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, âFather, save Me from this hourâ? But for this purpose I came to this hour. Father, glorify Your name.â Then a voice came out of heaven: âI have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.â So the crowd of people who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, âAn angel has spoken to Him.â Yeshua answered and said, âThis voice has not come for My sake, but for your sakes. Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.â But He was saying this to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die. The crowd then answered Him, âWe have heard out of the Law that the Messiah is to remain forever; and how can You say, âThe Son of Man must be lifted upâ? Who is this Son of Man?â So Yeshua said to them, âFor a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goesââ (NASU).
âAt that time the Feast of the Dedication took place at Jerusalem; it was winter, and Yeshua was walking in the temple in the portico of Solomon. The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, âHow long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Messiah, tell us plainly.â Yeshua answered them, âI told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Fatherâs name, these testify of Me. But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Fatherâs hand. I and the Father are one.â The Jews picked up stones again to stone Him. Yeshua answered them, âI showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?â The Jews answered Him, âFor a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.â Yeshua answered them, âHas it not been written in your Law, âI SAID, YOU ARE GODSâ [Psalm 82:6]? If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, âYou are blaspheming,â because I said, âI am the Son of Godâ? If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.â Therefore they were seeking again to seize Him, and He eluded their graspâ (NASU).
âSo Yeshua said to them again, âTruly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd. For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.â A division occurred again among the Jews because of these words. Many of them were saying, âHe has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?â Others were saying, âThese are not the sayings of one demon-possessed. A demon cannot open the eyes of the blind, can he?ââ (NASU).
âYeshua heard that they had put him out, and finding him, He said, âDo you believe in the Son of Man?â He answered, âWho is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?â Yeshua said to him, âYou have both seen Him, and He is the one who is talking with you.â And he said, âLord, I believe.â And he worshiped Himâ (NASU).
ââI speak the things which I have seen with My Father; therefore you also do the things which you heard from your father.â They answered and said to Him, âAbraham is our father.â Yeshua said to them, âIf you are Abrahamâs children, do the deeds of Abraham. But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do. You are doing the deeds of your father.â They said to Him, âWe were not born of fornication; we have one Father: God.â Yeshua said to them, âIf God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word. You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me. Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of Godââ (NASU).
âThen He said again to them, âI go away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come.â So the Jews were saying, âSurely He will not kill Himself, will He, since He says, âWhere I am going, you cannot comeâ?â And He was saying to them, âYou are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.â So they were saying to Him, âWho are You?â Yeshua said to them, âWhat have I been saying to you from the beginning? I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I speak to the world.â They did not realize that He had been speaking to them about the Father. So Yeshua said, âWhen you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me. And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.â As He spoke these things, many came to believe in Himâ (NASU).
âThen Yeshua again spoke to them, saying, âI am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.â So the Pharisees said to Him, âYou are testifying about Yourself; Your testimony is not true.â Yeshua answered and said to them, âEven if I testify about Myself, My testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. You judge according to the flesh; I am not judging anyone. But even if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone in it, but I and the Father who sent Me. Even in your law it has been written that the testimony of two men is true. I am He who testifies about Myself, and the Father who sent Me testifies about Me.â So they were saying to Him, âWhere is Your Father?â Yeshua answered, âYou know neither Me nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Father also.â These words He spoke in the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and no one seized Him, because His hour had not yet comeâ (NASU).
âThen Yeshua cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, âYou both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me.â So they were seeking to seize Him; and no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet comeâ (NASU).
âBut when it was now the midst of the feast Yeshua went up into the temple, and began to teach. The Jews then were astonished, saying, âHow has this man become learned, having never been educated?â So Yeshua answered them and said, âMy teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Himââ (NASU).
